    If you're a passionate sports journalist eager to master the inner workings of one of professional basketball’s most storied and innovative franchises, you may be the next Warriors beat reporter for The Mercury News and the East Bay Times. If you're a passionate sports journalist eager to master the inner workings of Bay Area sports teams, you may be the next sports beat reporter for The Mercury News and the East Bay Times. We’re the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier news organization, and we’re seeking a reporter who can help us tell stories in-depth for digital, video and print platforms. Our journalists work in real time, publishing words, sounds and images around the clock for millions of online readers and hundreds of thousands of people who get our daily newspapers. #BANG #Mid-Senior Level


    You might cover a game, detail the breakout performance of a much-lauded rookie, and offer a video analysis of the team at mid-season in one 24-hour period. The next off-day, you might work with our graphics and photos staffs on a longer enterprise piece. All the while you’ll be watching the metrics that communicate the reaction of your online audience to these various pieces, and adjusting your approach in real time. 



    If you’re the ideal candidate you’ll have most of these qualities:

    • Excellent news judgment
    • Strong writing skills under deadline pressure
    • The ability to juggle multiple stories of varying complexity
    • Proficiency at using social media to report stories and to share them
    • Three or more years experience as a working journalist
    • Deep knowledge of local sports teams, past, present and future
    • The ability to find and develop sources within the organizations
