    The Saint Paul Pioneer Press, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Ciculation Operatons Analyst to join the team!  MediaNews Group offers news reporting and third party advertising and marketing opportunities through its multi-platform products which include: web, mobile, tablet, and print.  We are one of the largest media groups in the U.S., serving high-value audiences and connecting advertisers to them.     This position is relied on to provide accurate, reliable and timely information to managers, division directors and MNG Finance. Business decisions may be based on information provided. Advertising relies on circulation and financial projections in support of sales programs. Confidentiality is required. #LI-RL1


    • Assists in building, monitoring and accurately representing circulation, revenue and expense trends weekly, monthly and annually.
    • Coordinates, evaluates, validates and calculates data used to develop and create the circulation averages, revenue and expense budgets, providing information to managers to achieve financial goals.
    • Monitors compliance with Audit Bureau of Circulation rules and bylaws, serves as liaison to the Bureau.
    • The designated JDE Power User for the circulation division.
    • Performs all JDE functions, trains all users, maintains security levels, monitors budget performance and initiates processes to accurately represent the division's financial outlook.
    • Anticipates future technology needs and assists with system upgrades.
    • Decisions are made daily on short notice affecting customer service, Audit Bureau of Circulations compliance, circulation averages, revenue, expenses, product pricing, staffing and volume projections.
    • Exercising good judgment and independent thinking is essential. Due to the nature of this position, a successful completion of a background screen including a consumer report/investigative consumer report is required.


    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with courses in finance, accounting, computer science and management preferred.
    • A minimum of four years related experience; newspaper experience with similar background preferred
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service orientation required.
    • Ability to work in a team and collaborative environment.
    • Works well under deadline pressure.
    • Excellent problem solving abilities and analytical skills are critical measures of success.
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and reporting packages, and data extraction tools experience.
