    MediaNews Group is seeking a Regional Sales Director to oversee our Philiadelphia Cluster Advertising teams!  MediaNews Group offers news reporting and third party advertising and marketing opportunities through its multi-platform products which include: web, mobile, tablet, and print.  We are one of the largest media groups in the U.S., serving high-value audiences and connecting advertisers to them. MNG publishes award-winning content (49 Pulitzers) that amasses and engages a nationwide audience via 800 multi-media platforms including web, mobile, social, and print.  We are transforming the news industry.

     

    Regional Sales Director is an integral part of the MNG (Philadelphia) cluster responsible for the development and execution of vision, strategy, initiatives and revenue growth of the regions print and digital products.    The Director will design and execute the sales plan for the local sales team with metrics and KPI’s to achieve revenue. Candidates should have the ability to manage, mentor, motivate and identify sales opportunities.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Direct management over sales and coaches team of sales executives in the field and on calls with potential clients.
    • Drive innovation and delivering best in class, multi platform marketing ideas that meet client needs, leverage brand assets and align with our local news brands and digital platforms
    • Recruit, develop, and coach sales talent in order to meet or exceed specific goals for profitable revenue growth.
    • Be creative, strategic and analytic - consistently collaborate to deliver go-to-market opportunities 
    • Effectively communicate the vision and goals (both financial and qualitative) to the sales team and ensure that they understand and are motivated to achieve them.
    • Proactively identify/develop solutions to generate revenue through new prospects and opportunities
    • Identify and adopt best practices to improve sales performance and initiatives.  Identify new ways to grow the business through products, rates, ect.
    • Embraces and effectively manages changing needs of customers and the marketplace while evaluating advertising solutions and team structures to improve day-to-day business and revenue growth. 
    • Work closely with GM to identify key categories, clients and programs for Partnerships and develop go-to-market strategy
    •  Serve as key point of contact for Sales Managers and Account Executives on an ongoing basis to review accounts, understand challenges, and develop recommendations for new opportunities 
    • Maintain deep understanding of the competitive landscape, staying on top of current industry best practices, future roadmaps and trends. 

    Qualifications

    Competencies & Skills:

    • Extensive experience leading the sales/revenue function within a large enterprise/network
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Collaborative and strong leadership qualities to motivate sales team
    • Understanding of digital advertising, media and sales tactics Strong leader with ability to hire, grow and retain top talent
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented, dynamic environment
    • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Google AdWords and analytics Certification preferred
    • Ability to have a creative approach to revenue development and a strong focus on customer service
    • Strong negotiation and accurate forecasting skills

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Position utilizes and integrates broad business knowledge and advanced communication,  financial skills including team revenue weekly reporting, forecasting, planning and management
