The Greeley Tribune, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking an Advertising Page Designer to join the team!  MediaNews Group offers news reporting and third party advertising and marketing opportunities through its multi-platform products which include: web, mobile, tablet, and print.  We are one of the largest media groups in the U.S., serving high-value audiences and connecting advertisers to them.   1. Produce high quality, active, appealing special sections/ features for print and digital including, but not limited to, the weekly At Home sections, Greality, Longmont and Loveland magazines, and annual sections such as Boulder County Gold, Tour of Homes and Holiday Gift Guides. Primary focus will be on page design and section layout, but work could include developing content plans and working with freelancers. 
  2. Post advertising special section content to the Web.
  3. Set and maintain standards for quality of publications, including content, design, and packaging and production flow.
  4. Participate in advertising kick-offs and sales presentations (when beneficial to the company) as it relates to advertising special section/feature launches.
  5. Design campaigns/ads as needed to promote reader and sales promotions.



  1. Maintain open channels of communication with all departments.
  2. Maintain high quality, appealing filler supply for print products.
  3. Maintain a working knowledge of new trends in advertising/marketing, applying those to the daily operation.


  1. Proven skills in graphic design, news writing, copyediting and publication layout a must. Photography skills a plus.
  2. Knowledge of AP Style.
  3. Mastery of Macintosh platforms including In Design, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Word.
  4. Knowledge of the commercial and newspaper printing process.
  5. Ability to manage time and projects and make smart decisions with minimal supervision.
  6. Ability to work well with others, including external and internal customers.
  7. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects under strict deadlines … a successful candidate will be a task-master with tremendous attention to detail.
  8. Ability to work effectively and calmly while under pressure.  


Education or Formal Training

Formal training in graphic design and copywriting required; Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications preferred.



Minimum two to three years in an advertising, marketing, publishing or communications industry in the capacities outlined above preferred. Experience in related field considered. Minimum three to five years experience in Indesign, Quark XPress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Word preferred. Experience in Web design preferred.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate keyboards/mouse, standard office equipment, objects, controls and/or light tools; and to talk and hear.  Close and distant vision is required. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs and must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Most work is performed in a standard office environment but participation. Occasional work at indoor/outdoor events on varying and uneven types of terrain may be required.
