The News-Herald, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Part Time District Manager to join the team! This is a multi-faceted position designed to ensure smooth morning operation at the loading dock and drop points and to assist with the delivery operation. This position primarily works overnight
hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed. These duties are carried out during the late-night and early morning hours and work is almost exclusively done in the field. Office duties are limited and daytime hours are rare.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sort and distribute nightly paperwork at The News-Herald facility
Monitor nightly operations at The News-Herald loading dock to ensure the efficient
distribution of product
Provide home delivery service on open (temporarily uncontracted) delivery routes
Assist District Managers in resolving ongoing subscriber service concerns
Support District Managers in the maintenance, monitoring, and evaluation of the
independent carrier force
Monitor bulk paper drop points to ensure the efficient distribution of product, as
Provide general field and office support to the Operations Manager and District
Other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma, required
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle, required
Ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle at night and in adverse
weather conditions, required
Some computer skills (email, basic Microsoft office skills, etc.), required
Work history that demonstrates an ability to proactively solve problems, preferred but
Work history that demonstrates third shift and/or delivery experience, preferred but
Candidates should have some experience in roles focusing on customer satisfaction, customer experience, or distribution. Candidate must be able to work proactively and have the ability to work independently, without the immediate presence of a supervisor. Newspaper delivery experience is ideal, but other delivery experience or experience working third shift are also desirable. Candidates must have strong multi-tasking skills and be able to perform a combination of office and field work.
