The St. Paul Pioneer Press, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Multimedia Sales Executive to join the team!  MediaNews Group offers news reporting and third party advertising and marketing opportunities through its multi-platform products which include: web, mobile, tablet, and print.  We are one of the largest media groups in the U.S., serving high-value audiences and connecting advertisers to them. MNG publishes award-winning content (49 Pulitzers) that amasses and engages a nationwide audience via 800 multi-media platforms including web, mobile, social, and print.  We are transforming the news industry.


The Multimedia Sales Executive focuses on selling our print, digital, mobile, and social advertising solutions, with a heavy concentration on print and new digital initiatives. Candidates in this position will be responsible for maintaining and growing existing revenue as well as targeting new business on a monthly basis. The Multimedia Sales Executive needs to work well within a tight deadline environment, have the ability to problem solve, and must be able to learn quickly and adapt to any situation.


  • Ability to work independently, making sound business decisions related to achieving revenue goals while communicating with their manager each day to discuss strategy, forecasting and other key issues.
  • Strategically prospects for revenue growth with existing or new accounts, analyzes clients advertising campaign objectives via a customer needs assessments, generating ideas and proposals, presenting recommendations, and closing the sale, help set and meet the client expectations, that fits their budget and campaign goals.
  • Owns the entire sales and retention cycle for each client campaign working in conjunction with the assigned account analyst, client services, and the ad operations team.
  • Meets with individual clients at appropriate frequencies (monthly, quarterly, etc.) to review campaign progress, process, budgets and creates new strategies.
  • Demonstrates a complete understanding of product features and benefits, rates, and packages and explains them in a way to match recommendations to customer needs.
  • Meet deadlines, completes accurate advertising orders, and submits client contracts and complete sales reporting in a timely manner.
  • Monitors other competitive media to identify opportunities to increase market share and attend local or category business events for networking opportunities.


  • High School diploma required, College Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of proven successful sales experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in digital media, marketing, social media, mobile advertising, and online or print media sales preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and or Google docs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A Doer, competitive, someone who can think on their feet, executes a creative strategy to win business opportunities and closes the sale.
  • Excellent customer communication and consultative selling skills including negotiating, uncovering sensitive information about advertisers’ businesses, and demonstrating to customers how our advertising solutions will help them achieve their specific goals.
  • A strategic ability to maintain and grow existing business while prospecting and selling new clients with strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Stays current on Industry and Product Knowledge on multi-media industry trends and has the ability to become competent with the price structure, marketing strategy and value of our digital agency products & services.

Work Environment

  • This position may be permanent remote. Normal 8 AM - 5 PM business working hours. This job operates in a professional office environment and at the Company and client sites for business meetings and presentations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
