Overview

The Human Resources Manager will partner closely with management and senior leadership to support and align the business operations and the HR practices for a business unit(s) within a geographic region. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for employee relations, maintaining an effective level of business literacy about the business unit’s financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring compliance of any and all applicable employment laws within their assigned market(s).

 

Responsibilities

  • Support leadership with human resource planning and decision making related to people and the business.
  • Provide feedback and counsel to managers and supervisors on employee concerns,  performance improvement plans and discipline
  • Conduct end to end internal investigations; prepare thorough summation of findings and recommendations on outcomes
  • Work with internal HR partners including Benefits, Payroll, and HRIS.
  • Support and develop various HR initiatives
  • Advise and train managers and supervisors in strategies for supporting and managing people
  • Develop further training(s) as needed
  • Collaborate with leadership on matters of policy and practice
  • Collaborate with legal counsel as appropriate
  • Maintain detailed records, and provide learnings and trends to leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Employee Relations, Human Resources, or related field or combination of education and relevant experience
  • 4 years of professional HR Administration, including 2 years in employee relations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable employee laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Thorough understanding of dispute resolution
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
  • Ability to work on multiple concerns simultaneously, excellent time management skills
  • Proficient in Excel and other MS Office software, Google Docs
  • Human Resources Certification Preferred (PHR-CA or SPHR-CA)

Travel Requirements: 20-30% in-state business unit site visits

 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
