Responsibilities

  • Supervise the mailroom work group work shift, which includes 4-10 employees per shift. 
  • Produce shift paperwork utilizing Excel and other third party software for shift pallet tag production per edition and end of shift reporting.
  • Operate the Muller Martini insert machines for inserting of commercial product. 
  • Operate the Kirk Rudy mailing machine for labeling commercial products.
  • Operate and troubleshoot forklift, Accraply Notes application machine, and all other mailroom equipment when needed to facilitate product flow.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues during production and coordinate with maintenance regarding repair and upkeep of mailroom and insert equipment.
  • Coordinate with Pressroom regarding shift production schedules, product quality and draw issues.
  • Coordinate with Distribution and our 3rd party trucking partners to optimize distribution of printed product.
  • Supervise safe work practices during the shift and compile necessary safety training and injury reporting when necessary.

The work schedule for this role is:
Monday 6pm - 2:30am
Tuesday 6pm - 2:30am

Wednesday 6pm-2:30am
Thursday 6pm - 2:30am
Friday and Saturday off
Sunday 7pm - 3:30am

Qualifications

  • Ability to learn and troubleshoot multiple pieces of equipment including: Forklift, Muller Martini Insert Machines, Kirk Rudy Mail Machine, Accraply Note Applicator and various Newsprint stackers and bundlers.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and with 3rd party programs utilized in generating paperwork and reporting of shift production.
  • Ability to work successfully in a supervisory role.
  • General knowledge of the newspaper production and distribution process is preferred but not required.
